Hapag-Lloyd to Connect China and Brazil with a New Weekly Service – Todo Logística News | 17/08/26

Hapag-Lloyd announced the launch of Asia-South America East Coast (AS3), a new weekly maritime service developed in partnership with ZIM that will directly connect China with various ports in Brazil and expand connectivity to the Río de la Plata via Rio Grande. The route will depart from Shanghai and continue through Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong, and Yantian, before calling at the Brazilian ports of Rio Grande, Paranaguá, Itajaí, Santos, and Rio de Janeiro. The service will begin on September 13, 2026, with the first departure from Shanghai, while its arrival in Rio Grande is scheduled for October 21. The new connection aims to facilitate access to Brazilian import and export markets and strengthen ties between China’s major production and export hubs and South America’s east coast. Additionally, the stop in Rio Grande will extend the route’s reach to ports along the Río de la Plata. The addition of the AS3 expands the options for regular maritime transport between Asia and South America amid growing trade and the need for more frequent and efficient connections. Link to Artículo
