Maersk Revises Terminal Handling Charges for Brazil Container Routes – Datamar News | 02/10/26
Maersk announced a revision of its Terminal Handling Charges (OHC/DHC) for all containers to and from Brazil, driven by increases in port-related and operational costs, prompting the company to adjust its freight structure to account for higher terminal handling expenses. The revised rates will take effect on November 1, 2026 and remain in force until further notice, with charges varying by port and container type. For dry containers, rates range from BRL 740 at Itaguai-Sepetiba to BRL 2,188 at Suape; at Santos, the tariff will be BRL 1,498 for dry and special containers, BRL 1,549 for reefers, and BRL 1,610 for dangerous cargo and dangerous cargo reefers. Other dry-container rates include BRL 1,076 at Navegantes, BRL 840 at Itapoa, BRL 811 at Itajai, BRL 1,550 at Imbituba, BRL 1,310 at Paranagua, BRL 1,248 at Rio Grande, BRL 755 at Rio de Janeiro, BRL 1,140 at Pecem, BRL 1,427 at Salvador, BRL 1,652 at Vitoria, BRL 997 at Manaus and BRL 1,008 at Vila do Conde. For non-SPOT bookings, the applicable rate will be determined according to the Price Calculation Date (PCD): for non-FMC trades, this corresponds to the scheduled departure date of the first water leg at the time of booking confirmation, while for FMC trades it is the last container gate-in date. For SPOT bookings, the applicable rate will be based on the booking confirmation date or the first vessel’s estimated departure date at the time of booking confirmation. Link to Article
