The World Shipping Council (WSC) warned that tariffs imposed by the United States could destabilise shipping alliances, affecting efficiency, increasing costs and creating uncertainty in international trade. Although the US Trade Representation maintains that the measures are intended to protect national interests, the WSC warned of the potential negative consequences for the global supply chain and requested that policies be reconsidered so as not to compromise the stability of shipping.
